Las Vegas National Golf

Las Vegas National Golf

As you drive into the Las Vegas National Golf Club, you will experience the thrill of revisiting the “sixties” era which is remarkably evident in the rectangular, pastel colored club house.

The club’s golf course is a traditionally designed oasis styled golf course, which also provides its golfers and visitors with the latest amenities. On this 18-hole, par-71 golf course, you will find that it is really challenging to play from the back tees.

Remember, the 1996 Las Vegas Invitational, which posed immense challenge to Tiger Woods, was held at this very course.

The Las Vegas National Golf Course Location

The Las Vegas National Golf Club is an oasis styled golf course like the traditional ones, spanning thousands of trees to provide a premium on ball position. The tall palm trees and greens are covered by sand traps and ponds. The cluster of several trees and sparkling water heighten the challenge while you play on this golf course.

The Las Vegas National Golf Club course is located only two miles away from the Vegas Strip.

Early History of the Las Vegas National Golf Course

Built way back in 1961, the Las Vegas National Golf Course was initially christened as the Sahara Country Club. It was designed by Bert Stamps, who was a caddy at the Rancho CC in L.A. in the 1930’s.

For that period of time, the Las Vegas National Golf course was an ultimate modern course and became a great event site for Vegas. Currently, the Las Vegas National Golf Club has become the home for the Sahara Invitational and a top payday for the PGA (Professional Golfers Association) Tour.

Intriguing Features of the Las Vegas National Golf Course

Round the year, golfers can play on the Las Vegas National Golf Course. The course has also a driving range with pro in site. The Las Vegas National Golf Course uses soft Bermuda grass in the fairways and the greens. With its fine texture, low water requirement and maintenance, the Bermuda grass is most preferred for premier golf courses.

For those of you require rental clubs, you can avail this option at the Las Vegas National Golf Course.

The Las Vegas National Golf course opens and closes with a healthy par 5’s that you will find challenging. Each one of them offers a well-protected target, surrounded either by water or bunkers.

Across the golf course, you will find that the golfers would be blessed with good lies as the turf is great. What a good lie does is that it lets you strike the golf ball neatly with the club in such a way that you impart the desired level of backspin to get proper shot control on the course. Even the rough areas of the Las Vegas National Golf course are so nicely cut that the ball will sit up and can be spotted easily.

Don’t forget to observe the home near to the 18th hole. This is the one that Robert Di Niro and Sharon Stone referred to as their home in the movie “Casino.”

Overall, the Las Vegas National Golf course is a wonderful place to view and play golf.
